Strategic Engine Cleaning Steps

When your engine needs to be cleaned, you can tackle the job without using commercial-grade tools. For this project, you'll only need a degreaser, a hose, and a plastic bag.

Some weather conditions can make the process of cleaning an engine more challenging. For example, extreme heat can delay the time that it takes for an engine to cool down. To avoid delays and other problems, always start an engine cleaning job on a warm day, and never implement any prep procedures until the housing is totally cool. If you recently traveled in your car, the engine must cool down for about 15 minutes.

Next, take the plastic pieces off the engine terminals. To clean these components, soak them separately in a bowl of soapy water. Now locate and cover all parts that distribute electricity to the engine. Then gradually spray a degreaser on the engine. After the grime is dissolved, spray water on the engine with a hose.
