A well charged battery is important when it comes to starting a car. When was the last time you had your car's battery serviced? A few choices are available to help you determine if there is still life in a battery or if it is time to swap it out for a new one. If you're the do-it-yourself type, here is how you can test the battery in your car. You will need a voltmeter for this task.
- Wear rubber gloves and goggles.
- Ensure the lights are off and the engine is not running.
- Using the voltmeter, connect the red voltmeter lead to the positive terminal on the battery.
- Connect the black lead to the negative battery terminal.
- If the reading is 50% or below, your battery is bad and needs replacing.
In that case, bring the battery to our service center at Duncan Acura in Roanoke, VA for a new one. We can even install it for you.
